Well spoken, because in Eph. 2:4-10 God's grace is connected to His love, His kindness, His salvation, His good works through Jesus Christ that we should walk in them. In other words, God's grace is a gift from God to fallen mankind delivered to us individually by His only begotten Son Jesus Christ(Jh. 3:16). Without God's grace or His gift of pardon from sin and power to overcome sin through Jesus Christ, all of mankind was on death row. It is written in Rom. 3:23, " For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. And in Rom. 6:23, " For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." So God's grace or gift contains his favor, patience, longsuffering, mercy, love, faith, power, justice, salvation; all freely given through Jesus Christ for the pardon and overcoming of sin. His grace doesn't nullify His ten commandment law, but rather gives the believer power to keep His law. Jesus said in Heb. 8:10," For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people.
Jesus Christ said in Matt. 19:17, " But if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. Then in verse 19, Jesus references 4 of the ten commandments . But remember He said in Jh. 15:5, " I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
1.First you must see that you are a sinner, hopelessly mired in transgression of God's law.
2.Secondly you must understand that the wages of sin is death.
3. You must see your need of a Savior(Jesus Christ) to deliver you from the penalty of sin, which is eternal death.
4. You must by faith receive the grace/gift of God through Jesus Christ, which involves confessing, repenting(turning from/giving up sins), baptism into the body of Christ, prayer and bible study.
This is the what the grace or gift of God is; given to all freely who by faith receive it through Jesus Christ, not by human goodness or works, but by the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus fulfilled the law by living a perfect(righteous) life, but died for our sins and in exchange gives all who receive Him, His righteousness by faith, to live a righteous life by receiving the power of His Spirit to overcome sin. In other words Jesus Christ wants to live His perfect life in you by His Spirit, but you must first believe and receive Him.
We live on a prison planet bound by sin and death, but God has given through His grace/gift a Way of escape, that being only through Jesus Christ.
